The Hippocratic oath

In the original Greek, it reads,

To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art.
I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.
To please no one will I prescribe a deadly drug nor give advice which may cause his death.
Nor will I give a woman a pessary to procure abortion.
But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.
I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.

The classical oath
A Nova translation of the Oath runs as follows:
I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepios and Hygeia and Panacea and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfill according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:
To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.
I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.
I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.
I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.
Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.
What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.

p.s i don't like morning glory

i watched dark knight today!!! My most recent movie since ....jumpers? I have no life, i know. Anyway the show was awesome. I didn't want it to end, although shaoying was complaining about how long it was and how her legs went numb. Well, the show has definitely change my viewpoint about batman. Previously, i don't think much about batman. Come on, he's just a guy who's rich enough to get all the suit, vehicles and weapons. But after today, 25 july 2008, the 1.30pm Dark Knight show, i pity batman. Losing everything just to save and protect the city. He's indeed the guardian angel behind the scenes.=) And i must say, christian bale being the lead actor is a bonus. I believe many girls are even crazier about him now. He does has his charisma and is quite good looking too. Oops =P

Irritated and pissed. Yup that's definitely what i'm feeling right now. Very irritated and pissed. Let just say that this problem has expanded to such a scale that mt.ningxin might just erupt someday.

Well, i've been hearing from people asking me about the rumour or teasing me about it. Seriously, i'm not irritated and any bit pissed at them. I'm angrier about how i've let myself end up in this situation and how i could have nibbed it right in the bud at the very first beginning. I think most of us are quite clear on what rumour i'm talking about because there's only 1( i hope=P ). So since no one is bothering to clear mistake up, i guess i better make it clear to any one that comes across my blog that the rumour is a rumour, nothing but a fake rumour.

There's is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING going on and i doubt there will ever be.( no offence to anyone)

Once again, i emphasise that the rumour is fake. I really do not wish for anyone to misunderstand. Besides, it's really quite irritating when i have people i do not know from other faculties asking my friends if this is true, or people linking everything that i do or just simply me with him. Hell, even my friends from other school come ask me about it. Can you imagine the scale now? Actually i'm someone who don't give a damn shit about a freaking rumour or a scandal but there have been misunderstandings and there are people that i wish they would not know about it. Furthermore, i'm quite confused now too. I've to to stress that i'm not angry at anyone here but the incident itself, just in case anyone misunderstood.=)

And i know i've stressing my friends alot about a problem i've been facing recently. I can only say sorry and thanks for listening to me. I'm still trying really hard to find a way to solve it. I can only hope that things will end up okay.

Anyway i've noticed that my ct mates are going crazy, seriously crazy. I find them really amusing, i don't know about the rest. But i'm entertained.=D

Oh, and one more thing, i heard that there are people i do not know who "stalk" my blog. HI!!!Thank you for your support for my half-dead blog. I have no idea why you would want to stalk mine but do tag before your leave. And if you don't mind, let me know who you are. We may even become friends=). And if you wish to set up a fan club for me, I have no objections=P. LOL

HUIQING IS OVER!! And it was freaking fun, exceeds my expectations! Had mad training in the morning, then headed over to chi soc. They were doing the ricky martin dance when i reached. As i told xina, i went there for their lunch. lol. For the rest of the day till round 4+ pm, we set up the decorations and games stalls. At the end of the day, i had great fun watching the seniors koping tokens from us, worming their way to victories, auctioning for stuff and really enjoyed the singing session with the seniors all the way from 1991.=)

I'm currently multi-tasking. With all the projects and conversations going on, i think i'm going berserk soon. Wangyi was being graphic and insisted in telling me about wearing nothing but boxers in air-coned room at 19 degree celsius. Blue boxers with homer and bart simpsons.. Yup, definitely sick. =P
